Ready for Beauty10
After last weekend saw Aaron ‘Professor Pro’ Thomas and Charles ‘Fuzzyness’ Kimmelman sweep another UK national for their proud team, VwS Gaming, this is set to be an even bigger couple of days for the young PM master and rising star of European Smash as he’s on his way to Sweden for Beauty 10. Sadly, his usual partner in crime Fuzzyness can’t make it to play doubles alongside the Professor, but he’s managed to come up with a pretty acceptable substitute for the teams event in a bloke called William Hjelte, who plays for TSM.
You’d know him better as Leffen of course, and the matchup with Professor Pro has all the attributes required to produce some breathtaking doubles play this weekend if they can find the time to develop some synergy before the action starts. With the formidable ‘Team UGS’ of Adam ‘Armada’ Lindgren and Andreas ‘Android’ Lindgren set to be the most difficult obstacle between team VwS/TSM and the victory it will not be a simple task to bring home the win even for the two Fox mains, who come into this as arguably two of Europe’s fastest rising players.
Eighteen months ago Professor Pro was known largely for his prowess in Project M, the Brawl mod he plays and acts as a game-tester for, and in fairness to the fans it’s not easy to forget the way he plays once you’ve seen the man in action with his signature Snake, but that was never enough for Prof. He has ground out hundreds of hours in the lab playing Melee since then, and not only usurped his team-mate and friend Fuzzyness to become UK number one in SSBM but has also shown some impressive form on his travels, taking 5th at a stacked BEAST 5.
Now comes another massive test, and with Sweden’s elite in attendance the chances of making top 3 are going to be slim for the UK’s finest, although there is definitely hope there. German Fox/Sheik main Mustafa ‘Ice’ Akcakaya will not be at Beauty 10, so after Armada and Leffen there is a large group vying for third including Professor Pro and the younger Lindgren brother Android which should make for some great matches and close competition.
With Project M set to be run and such a strong teammate for doubles, this could be a very productive trip to Sweden for Prof, who has made a habit of going recently and some good friends as a result, and eventually that will be what makes Beauty 10 another fantastic event featuring some of the best players on the continent. Be sure to tune in on http://www.twitch.tv/GeekyGoonSquad and catch all the action as Europe’s best face off, and follow Prof on Twitter and Twitch for news of giveaways and upcoming events he’ll be at.
