The #LongGrass :: Week 13

Thu 20th Aug 2015 - 6:46pm : Gaming

Hello and welcome to the thirteenth addition of Enter the #LongGrass brought to you by 8-12Hz.

This week we are joined by Damien ‘Damo’ Wild member of the VwS Call of Duty Roster.

Tell us a bit about yourself, and what got you into gaming.

Hi, my names Damien Wild, I'm 20 years old and a competitive call of duty player. I first got into competitive gaming when I was 17 years old, initially I always watched competitive CoD and knew I was good enough to compete but I started off playing FIFA where I gained a pretty decent profile within the community getting some good consistent placements such as T3 & T6 over many occasions. It got to a point when I didn't see FIFA really kicking off, so I switched over to the CoD community. As I had a good understanding of the game I was asked to coach by a friend Woody for an event in Paris in January 2014 Skylan… A week before the event a player dropped out meaning I had to fill in for the squad and we ended up placing 9-12th out of 45 teams with minimal practice... From then on I knew I was hooked on competing.

With you being one of the new additions to the Call of Duty roster, how do you feel the team is getting along and what role do you take on the roster?

So far the teams really bonding, we all get along great considering we've only really just met, we've already won two online gfinity tournaments in such a short space of teaming. We have the capability of being a top squad if we continue to practice and take our good form onto LAN. I consider myself quite a vocal/leader within the squad, don't get me wrong there's no stand out leader in our team we all have our say and all call shots in and out of game.

You guys just got done playing Vitality in yesterdays league match, how did you feel about the matchup and what can you take from it as a team going forward?

The vitality match up was a very tough defeat to take for us as anyone who watched us knows we should have got a draw at least, sadly a glitch within the game which is out of our hands caused us to lose 4-2. As a squad I think it was great practice, it's always good to play against the top flight squads and show what we can do..but as I said it was just gutting to take the loss in that way.

With only having one more online league match before going to finish off the season 2 finals at Gfinity, how are you guys feeling about playing on LAN the first time as a team and what matchup are you looking forward to?

Our first time on LAN will be exciting to say the least; we've got a lot to prove as we're very good online we just need to continue that at the S2 Finals. I'll be looking forward to playing Hypergames (HG) the most as we've got a little rivalry against the french so it'll be good to see how it turns out against them.

What are your future goals/aims as a player?

My aim is to keep pushing myself to become the best and get to the highest level of competing within Call of Duty; I feel I still have a lot to prove.

Do you have any shout outs?
